At this time, the company was undergoing a shift from print-only to an app-first offering, which made this redesign all the more prescient. I took time to write and put in place on-site polls of user behaviour, brand perception and site usability, in order centre my design strategy around the needs and pain points of our user base - primarily younger mothers and female educators.
I worked to overhaul content and visual styles to make much-needed updates to messaging and brand positioning. The challenge here finding ways to clearly communicate Mrs Wordsmith’s overarching mission, in order to funnel users toward the primary KPI of app subscription whilst still highlighting the importance of printed learning products.


A transition to app-first, while maintaining a publishing legacy
To ensure design strategy would be best tailored to the needs of our user base - primarily younger mothers and educators - I took time to write and instate post-purchase surveys and three brief on-site polls to get an picture of user behaviour, brand perception and site usability. Having synthesised research findings in combination with internal documentation around brand identity and positioning to this point, I focussed my design strategy around two primary problem statements: How might we ‘bundle’ our physical and digital offerings in an intentional way? How might we best funnel users toward app subscriptions?
